May 5-11 is Mental Health Week in Canada, and The Canadian Mental Health Association is running a campaign to raise awareness about how mental health is key to our overall well-being. Mental Health is about realizing our potential, coping with normal stresses of life, and making a contribution to our community.

One of CMHA’s tips for maintaining mental health is to build ‘Resiliency’. Resiliency is the ability to cope, recover, and ‘bounce back’ from stress or adversity.  In practical terms, it means looking at situations realistically, taking action to change the things you can, accepting and letting go of things you can’t change, and connecting to helpful supports in your life. Problems and unexpected changes are a normal part of life for everyone.  Building resiliency skills will help you deal with life’s challenges effectively and keep you mentally healthy.
